Hi all,

We have had a wonderful start to our school year and we hope that your children are loving school as much as the staff does. We have a new addition to our curriculum that I would like to explain to you. Lena Kupchik, who teaches our 2 years olds, on Tuesday and Thursday will now be taking on the role of Specialist with our 4 year old and Pre K classes. This is a very exciting position for Mrs. Kupchik and she is so enthusiastic about working with your children. Mrs. Kupchik will work with the children in groups of 6 for a period of 20-25 minutes.

The following is our schedule for Specialist during the month of September:

Miss Meghan & Miss Catherine’s class will have Specialist on Mondays. This month Mrs. Kupchik will concentrate on Science & Discovery. The children will be doing all kinds of experiments with water and color. What happens when you mix colors in beakers or add materials into water? Do they change and why do they change? These are just a couple of examples of what she will be working on with the children.

Miss Angie’s class will have Specialist on Wednesdays. During September they will be introduced to all types of music and musical instruments. Today they all told about their favorite instrument. They played a game, guessing what types of instruments Mrs. Kupchik was playing. They will also learn about classical music, music from different countries, play instruments, paint to music and do bands around the school among many other fun activities.

Mrs. Louis’ class will have Specialist on Fridays. This month they will concentrate on literature and be introduced to various authors. Mrs. Kupchik will be reading all different kinds of stories, some from different countries. She will also incorporate our author of the month into activities. The children will role play the stories and participate in puppet shows.

All in all, we think this is going to be a great addition to your child’s learning and play experience here at CWG-WWS.
